Western Middle School sent 7 teams to the 2013 Fairfield County Debates at Eastern Middle School on Monday, April 29th. With 46 teams made up of 92 students competing in a challenging duel of wits, all of Western's teams performed outstandingly, representing WMS with great character and dignity. Matt Roer and Calvin Hirsch were impressively undefeated in their contest. Other Western winners were the teams of Megan Imperato & Olivia Fakundiny, Brittany Cleary & Lily McKenna, Angelina Intriere & Lauren Pecora, and Evan Madrid with Daniel Gilbert. Also performing well were Izzy Johnson, Nic Hubbard, James Huber and Jake Back. It was a strong team that fought a good fight. Whatever you do beware of getting into arguments with any of these individuals because you will not stand much of a chance at winning!!
International Baccalaureate Update
Our IB authorization visit took place April 11th and 12th. A team from IB visited our school and met with teachers, parents, and students. This final step toward authorization is now complete. Staff, students and the community are eagerly awaiting the report due out sometime this summer.
