Arts & Crafts
Ms. Casado & Ms. Iannacone - Room M2
In this club we make many different kinds of crafts for different holidays and everyday use. All creative students are encouraged to join!!! The club meets once monthly on a Thursday morning (dates will be announced ahead of time) in room M-2. Students may bring an old shirt to cover their clothing for painting activities.
Breakfast and Books
Calling all bookworms! Do you love to read and eat breakfast? If this describes YOU come join Western's Breakfast and Books club! We meet monthly before school beginning in October. Listen to announcements for the date of our first meeting!
Clay Art Club
Are you artistic? Would you like to create amazing bowls, plates and creatures in clay? Would you like to work with and learn from a professional Artist? Sign up for the Clay Arts Club. You will be brought to the boys and girls club by bus and create in clay every Monday after school. Mrs. Haymon
Computer Sports Club
The computer sports club meets on Friday from 2:40 -3:45 pm. Students are expected to create a bracket to play against each other in various sports video games. They create and monitor the brackets and keep track of the results. At the end of each month, students play a championship game. A different sport game is played each month. Students are expected to organize all brackets, matches and results. This club is limited to 20 students.
CSI Club
Begins Oct 11 - end of November - Tuesday and Thursday and limited to 15 Must be committed to come to every meeting. Sign up in W22, Mrs. Maher-Cochran
Are you a scientist? Come find out if you have what it takes to be a chemist or forensic scientist. You can try your hand at both chemistry and forensics experiments to see if you could hack it in real life CSI. We will learn about different chemical reactions and changes and why they are important. We will also learn the necessary tools needed to solve crimes and even try to solve one once you perfected all the skills.
The Fashion and Jewelry Club
The Fashion and Jewelry Club meets on Thursdays after school. Meetings begin on November 1st in room C8 and run for 6 sessions. Come create your fashion statement. Make It, Take It, and Wear It!! (limited to 12 students)
French Club
Learn more about French culture and the Francophone world through hands on activities, song, etc. All students are welcome even if not enrolled in French class. French club meets on Mondays in U-11 during the 2nd semester.
Math in Motion Club
Danielle Green, math teacher, and Luke Guanzon from Combine Fitness in Greenwich, will hold two 6-week sessions of Math in Motion. The first of these sessions is FILLED with invited students. The second session is open to anyone interested. Students solve math problems that incorporate physical activities such as stretching, knee lifts, squats, jogging, and jumping rope. In addition, they learn about healthy eating, snacks, and pre- and post- workout meals in a half hour session with a registered dietician. Sessions are held on Monday from 2:35-3:45 pm in the cafeteria. All session dates to be scheduled shortly.
MATHCOUNTS Club
The MATHCOUNTS Club Program is a math enrichment initiative providing the structure and activities needed to encourage the formation of math clubs within schools. The program increases enthusiasm for math and engages students using a variety of math activities. We meet every Thursday. See http://mathcounts.org/club for more information.
Musical
The musical this year is Grease. All who are interested in singing, acting and dancing, get ready! The auditions begin in January. More information is forthcoming from Mrs. Davis in December.
Newspaper Club
The Western Newspaper Club begins meeting in January. Join this club to create our own school newspaper.
Ping Pong Club
The Ping Pong club meets on Tuesdays from 2:45-3:45 in the large cafeteria for both Fall and Spring semesters. This club gives students an opportunity to learn how to play ping pong, be competitive, eager and is a perfect place to make friends.
Rocket Club
The Rocket Club begins in February and is open to anyone interested in beginning rocketry. We learn a little about rocket design and propulsion, the space program, build one Estes rocket and launch it in the spring. All grades welcome. We meet on Tuesdays Room in W22 with Mr. Karlsson and Mrs. Maher-Cochran
Squash Club
The squash club meets at Club 800 in Rye Brook on Wednesdays and Sundays. The club participates in meetings, jamborees and other tournaments. The program starts in November and ends in February. All are welcome. Registration forms are available in the main office.
West Wind Literary Magazine
Create stories, poems and essays for publication in the West Wind Literary Magazine! Mrs. Labourdette, Ms. Giorlando and Ms. DiDonato will advise you on how to create writing for publication in our magazine.
WMS Science Club
This club meets every Monday from 2:45 - 3:45 pm. As a club, we research topical science issues, build stuff – robots and Legos to enable us compete in district, state and national science fairs in order to raise money for breast cancer research.
Yearbook Club
The Western Yearbook is composed of photographs which document events, sports, field trips, clubs and student life. Learn how to create MEMORIES using digital photography and design. Yearbook club’s first meeting is on Tuesday, October 23rd in W32. We will meet monthly until our final deadline in the spring. Join us and help create MEMORIES that will last a lifetime!
Young Men's Leadership Club
The young men's leadership club meets 2nd semester and supports young men at WMS in their growth and development. The group discusses goals for achieving academic success as well as how to deal with social/peer issues that young men face at the middle school level.
