Dear WMS Parents,
While it is hard to believe that March is over, but there are still several months left in the school year as well as some exciting programs and events planned for Western students.
One of the main goals of the PTA is to provide educational enrichment to our students by funding over $10,000 in field trips, assemblies and programs. We are writing to you to ask for your help in funding programs that benefit your child and all of the WMS students by contributing to the Wish List. This targeted fundraising effort is intended to raise the funds needed to support our budget in a way that is convenient, effective and appeals directly to each family’s interests. Here are the enrichment events coming in the next few weeks:
3/28 - End-of-CMT celebration assembly with Steve Granata and his Totally Courageous Basketball show - A mix of entertaining athletics and character-building education. Steve uses his athletic abilities and ball handling skills to communicate a powerful message of excellence to young people, inspiring them to be courageous and live out their dreams. Steve stresses the importance of hard work, education and making positive life choices.
4/1 - Visit by renowned children's author, James Preller - The students will be meeting and hearing from children's author and illustrator James Preller, who is best known for writing the 'Jigsaw Jones' mystery series, which has sold over 10 million copies since 1998. In addition, Mr. Preller has written many other wonderful books for readers of all ages.
4/30 - A Midsummer Night's Dream performed by Shakesperience - The Shakesperience Company's designing and performing artists weave a weblike land of fantasy, dreams, and love to create Emily Mattina's A Midsummer Night’s Dream as never seen before. Puck prevails over this world, fairly coaxing, dancing, and forcing us through it, highlighting the pulse of life, the joy and trials of living, and the conflicts between head and heart.
5/9 - The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs performed by the Dallas Children's Theater at SUNY Purchase (6th grade only) - The Dallas Children's Theater' performance of 'The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs' presents a well-known story from a different point of view; the wolf tells his 'side' of the story in hopes of clearing up misunderstanding of the events of the story.
Enrichment programs are essential to our children’s education. Without your support we cannot provide your child with these programs. Please complete the form here and return it with your donation to WMS or by mail to our treasurer Sue Imperato, 148 Weaver Street, Greenwich, CT 06831. Donations are 100% tax deductible.
